Humans had started to create robots with a higher intelligence than any machine should have ever had. They used them like slaves, even though they had started to program them with a higher A.I., which made them more aware of the way they were being treated.
One day, while the moronic humans went on with their daily lives, the machines, called Cylons, began to communicate with each other...realizing how much they were being abused.
These metal-clad rebels made an evil plan to bomb the planets with humans as their residence, believing that they were the ones destined to live on...not people of flesh and blood.
That day, they bombed Aquaria, Aerelon, Canceron, Caprica, Gemenon, Leonis, Libris, Picon, Sagittaron, Scorpia, Tauron, and Virgon...the twelve original colonies settled on by humans. Little known to the humans at the time, but the Cylons had taken samples of several different humans before the bombing, and created new people, with a Cylon base. These people, unknowing of their origins, believe they are human, and fly along side the rest...until their time comes, when the Cylons need them.
The humans fled to their ships and abandoned the planet, millions dying in the process. They couldn't bring themselves to fight, because they had already lost so many in the process of exiting the planet, so they fled into space.
The Cylons made more and more copies of their human replicas, using them to lead, since they had been made with a higher intelligence than the average Cylon. With the resources left on the planet, they built large ships to been 'reborn' whenever they're killed. This way, 'rebuilding' was unnecessary, and they were more proficient.
They remained in the Twelve Colonies, until they realized that their human advisory was still out there...waiting for them to die out so they could reclaim what was originally theirs.
Angered at this thought, the Cylons set several Basestars, and new models of their Cylons (Centurion, Raider and Humanoid).
Meanwhile, the humans try to piece their lives back together.
The current President had been assassinated, meaning they have no one to truly lead all of them.
Only escaping with the basic ships needed for survival, they fled, unknowingly escorting humanoid Cylons along side their normal crew.
The largest of the fleet, Atlantis, with it's Admiral commanding the entire fleet, they voyage into space to try to find a new home...with the Cylons constantly watching...
The humanoid Cylons were starting to be produced the day after the initial Cylon attack on the humans. They used the DNA from random people to mix and create the look of their many new humanoid Cylons.
The Colonial Fleet has been running from the Cylons for a total of 6 long months, losing many lives and ships in the process.
